Questions
The questions people ask most about omaplive — the city map and online platform for finding companies, services, property, work, orders and events.
You will find what you need here about registering, listing a business, reviews, property, adverts and using the platform.
General
- Is omaplive free to use?
Yes. For ordinary users the platform is free.
Without registering you can:
- search for companies and venues on the map;
- see addresses and locations;
- check opening hours;
- look through photographs and descriptions;
- read reviews;
- browse property;
- look for work and orders;
- see what is on;
- follow links to websites and contact companies.
Registration is only needed for certain things, such as posting reviews, publishing adverts or managing a company's details. Businesses may have paid listing formats and extra features — the current terms are on the pricing page.
- Do I need an account?
No — to use the map and look things up, you do not. Without registering you can find companies, services, cafés, shops, housing and other places, and see their contact details.
You will need an account if you want to:
- leave a review;
- list a business;
- publish an advert;
- add a property;
- post an order or offer your services;
- manage what you have published.
- Which countries does omaplive cover?
omaplive is being built as a European platform, for finding things in the cities of Europe. People can find local companies, services, housing, work, orders and events in the cities and countries that are live.
The number of cities and categories will grow over time.
- What languages is the site in?
The omaplive interface is available in several languages:
At the moment those are:
- Slovak;
- Ukrainian;
- Russian;
- English.
More will be added later. Where something has not been written in the language you are reading, a translation may be shown automatically.
Finding places and companies
- Who adds companies and venues to the map?
In most cases the details are added by the owner or a representative of the business, through a business account. A new page is reviewed before it is published.
That is how the basic facts get checked, and how much of the wrong or accidental information is kept off the map.
- How do I find a particular place or service?
Open the map, choose the category you want and use the filters.
Depending on the section, companies and places can be searched by:
- category;
- location;
- district;
- rating;
- opening hours;
- the “Open now” filter;
- other details.
Once you have picked something, open its page for the full details and contacts.
- Can I search for places near me?
Yes. The map is built around where things are, so you can find companies, venues and services in the part of the city you care about.
You can look at a particular district or street, or simply use the map to see what is close by.
- Why is a company not showing on the map?
There are several possible reasons.
Most often it is one of these:
- the company has not been added yet;
- the application is still being reviewed;
- the page was never published;
- the company has paused its listing;
- the business details need updating.
If it is your company, check the status of the listing in your dashboard or get in touch with us.
Mistakes and out-of-date information
- I found a mistake in a company's details. What do I do?
If you have spotted a wrong address, telephone number, opening hours or anything else, tell us. You can use the report button on the page itself, or write to support.
It helps us keep the map current. Owners of confirmed business pages can also update their details themselves from the dashboard.
- Why might a page not match what I found?
Companies change address, hours, contacts, prices and what they offer. omaplive gives owners the means to keep their details current, but things can change faster than a page is updated.
If you notice something wrong, it is best to tell us through the contact form or the report button.
Reviews
- Who can leave a review?
Anyone with a confirmed account. One user can leave only a limited number of reviews of the same place, which keeps down repeat and manufactured ratings.
Reviews are their authors' own experience and opinion.
- Does omaplive check that the author was really a customer?
It is not always possible to confirm that somebody visited a company or used a particular service. So reviews should be read as the opinion of users, not as official or guaranteed fact.
Content that is reported can be looked at further by moderation.
- Can a company owner delete a negative review?
No. Owners cannot remove a user's review simply because the opinion in it is unfavourable.
They can reply to it, and if it breaks the site's rules — abuse, spam, false claims or other forbidden content — it can be reported. A moderator then looks at it.
- Can I report a review?
Yes. If you believe a review breaks the site's rules, use the report button.
The report goes into the queue. The decision follows a look at what the review says and at the circumstances of the complaint.
Listing a business
- How do I add my company to the map?
Start by creating a business account. Once registered you can apply to be listed and give the main details about the business.
After the first check you can fill in the page:
- mark the point on the map;
- add the address;
- give the contacts;
- choose the category;
- add a description;
- upload photographs;
- set the opening hours;
- add links and anything else.
Once submitted the page is reviewed, and on approval it goes onto the map.
- How long does the review take?
In most cases an application is dealt with within one working day.
It can take longer if something needs clarifying or the application needs a closer look.
- Why might an application be refused?
An application can be refused for several reasons.
The main ones are:
- the company's existence cannot be confirmed;
- the address or contacts are wrong;
- the details are untrue;
- the description does not match what the company does;
- the page is being used to advertise unrelated services;
- what was published breaks the site's rules.
If it is refused, you can correct the details and apply again.
- Can I change a company's details after publication?
Yes. Owners of business pages can update what is published from the dashboard.
Substantial changes may go through a further review.
- Can I list several branches of one company?
Yes. If a company trades from several physical addresses, each branch or site can have its own listing.
That way people see where a particular shop, café, office or other site actually is.
Property
- I am not a company. Can I still post a property advert?
Yes. You do not have to be a company or an agency to advertise a property for sale or to let.
Ordinary users can use the property section to publish their own listings.
- What can be published in the property section?
The section is for finding and publishing property adverts.
Depending on the categories available, you can advertise:
- homes to let;
- long-term lets;
- flats for sale;
- houses for sale;
- rooms to let;
- other kinds of property.
A listing can state the main details of the property, including the price, the floor area, the number of rooms, the storey and where it is.
- Can I contact the owner directly?
Yes, where the owner or advertiser has published contact details.
omaplive helps you find the offer and the information about it; everything after that happens directly between the people involved.
Work, services and orders
- How is the “Orders” section different from the map?
They are two different tools. The map is for the standing presence of companies, venues and physical sites: a restaurant, a beauty salon, a shop or a workshop has a permanent page and shows at its address. An order is a temporary advert about one particular job or need.
For example:
- somebody needs a tradesperson for repairs;
- a removal is needed;
- somebody is after a designer;
- a clean is needed;
- help around the house is wanted;
- somebody is looking for a person to do one particular job.
Adverts like these run for a limited time and exist to match somebody looking with somebody offering.
- I am looking for work. Can I publish something about myself?
Yes. Depending on what the section allows, you can offer your services or look through the orders on it.
That is how tradespeople find clients, and how people find somebody for a particular job.
- How long does an order stay up?
Orders and other temporary adverts run for a limited time.
It keeps the section current and cuts down on old offers that no longer stand.
Safety and moderation
- Why is some material reviewed before it appears?
Moderation cuts down on spam, untrue information and material that breaks the site's rules.
At the same time we try to keep publishing simple and not make life harder for ordinary users and businesses.
- Who decides on a report?
Reports are dealt with by the platform's moderation.
What the material says, why it was reported and whether it meets the omaplive rules all count towards the decision.
- What if my question is not here?
Get in touch however suits you.
The omaplive team will help you with how the platform works, and answer questions about finding places and services, listing a business, property, orders, events and everything else the site does.
