How it works

The platform is straightforward: people find what they need on the map, and companies, specialists and organisers publish what they offer and reach a new audience.

Below is how to use omaplive — whether you are looking for something for yourself or want your business on the map.

If you are looking

After a good café nearby, a beauty salon, a shop, a specialist, somewhere to live, a job or something to do? omaplive helps you find it through an interactive map and a search built around it.

  1. 1

    Find it on the map

    Pick the category and the city you are interested in, then use the filters to narrow things down.

    Places can be searched and sorted by:

    • category;
    • district or location;
    • ratings and reviews;
    • opening hours;
    • the “Open now” filter;
    • the other details available.

    On a computer you can see the list of results and where everything is at the same time; on a phone the interface is laid out for finding things quickly. Either way you learn not only what to choose but exactly where it is.

  2. 2

    Compare places and offers

    Every company, venue or property has its own page with the details on it.

    Depending on the kind of listing, that page may hold:

    • photographs;
    • a description of the company or service;
    • the address and the point on the map;
    • opening hours by day;
    • prices and other useful notes;
    • contact details;
    • links to the website and social profiles;
    • reviews from visitors.

    That lets you weigh up several options before going or calling, and pick the one that suits you.

  3. 3

    Get in touch directly

    omaplive helps you find what you need and contact companies and advertisers yourself. The telephone, address, website and other published contacts are visible without registering.

    You do not need an account to use the map, search for companies or read what is on a page. Registration is only needed for certain things — posting a review, publishing something of your own or managing your own listings.

If you are a business

omaplive lets companies, venues, shops and specialists publish their details on an interactive map and be there for the people looking for services in their city.

  1. 1

    Create an account

    Start by registering a business account. Registration is the usual thing and includes confirming your email address.

    Once the account exists you get the dashboard and the tools for managing your listing.

  2. 2

    Apply to be listed

    Tell us about your company and give the main contact details. The application needs enough information to confirm that the business exists and is trading.

    Every new application is checked by a moderator first — usually within one working day. This is what keeps the map to real companies, venues and services.

  3. 3

    Fill in the company details

    Once the application is approved you can create and fill in the company page. A step-by-step process walks you through everything that goes on it.

    On the page you can:

    • mark exactly where you are on the map;
    • give the address;
    • add a telephone number and other contacts;
    • write a description of the company;
    • choose what the business does;
    • upload photographs;
    • set the opening hours;
    • add the website and other links;
    • fill in anything else worth knowing.

    The details can be published in one or several of the available languages, so the page reads properly for different visitors. The fuller the page, the more a prospective customer learns from it.

  4. 4

    Send the listing for review

    Once it is filled in, the page goes for a final review. If it meets the site's rules, the company appears on the omaplive map for everyone to find.

    After that the owner manages the page from the dashboard.

What does a listing cost?

There are several ways for a business to be present on omaplive.

The cost and what comes with it depend on the format you pick. The pricing page has the current terms, features and options for companies.

What a moderator checks

Moderation is not there to make listing harder; it is there so people can trust what the map says.

Reviewing an application, a moderator looks at a few main things:

  • whether the company or venue exists;
  • whether the address and location are real;
  • whether the category matches what the company does;
  • whether the description is accurate;
  • whether the page is being used to advertise somebody else's or unrelated services;
  • whether what is published meets the site's rules.

If an application does not pass, the owner is told why. That does not close the door — the details can be corrected, added to and sent for review again.

Why things are checked

We want omaplive to be a useful way of finding real companies, services and places, rather than a directory of stale or invented entries.

Checking cuts down on:

  • companies that do not exist;
  • wrong addresses;
  • dead contact details;
  • misleading information;
  • spam and irrelevant advertising.

Meanwhile people keep the ability to leave reviews and share what happened to them, and company owners keep control of their own details.

It comes to this: find, or be found

If you are looking — open the map, pick a category and find the place or service near you.

If you are a business — create an account, apply, and put your company on the map so new customers can find you.

omaplive brings places, companies, services, property, work, orders and events together in one city-wide space.

Site rules

Before you list a company, post an advert or publish anything else, it is worth reading the omaplive rules. They are what keeps the information good, the users safe and the terms clear for everybody on the platform.
